Gears of War: E-Day Classes Guide: Assault, Breacher, Marksman and Medic

What every launch Horde Siege class does in Gears of War: E-Day, including starting roles, Tactical Gear and class bonuses.

Gears of War: E-Day launches Horde Siege with four classes: Assault, Breacher, Marksman and Medic.

Classes determine your starting loadout, combat bonus, progression track and Tactical Gear. Character skins are separate, so you do not have to use one specific character just to play a class.

Assault

Assault is the flexible mid-range class.

Its Tactical Gear is the Sonic Disruptor, which can stun groups of incoming enemies and is especially useful when a squad needs to hold an objective.

Assault also receives a damage bonus while fighting from cover.

This is the safest starting point if you want a class that fits most situations without being tied to extreme close range or precision play.

Breacher

Breacher is built for aggressive close-range combat.

Its Tactical Gear is the Adrenaline Injector, which refills health and reduces incoming damage. The class also has better resistance to status effects and melee damage.

Breacher is designed for players who want to push into dangerous positions, clear tight spaces and survive fights that would punish a less durable class.

Marksman

Marksman focuses on precision damage and long sightlines.

Its Tactical Gear is the Pulse Drone, which tags Locust units for you and your squad.

The class also gains improved critical-hit damage, making it the natural choice for players who consistently target weak points and headshots.

Medic

Medic is the revive and sustain specialist.

Its Tactical Gear is the Stim Vaporizer, which heals and can revive Gears within range, including downed players from other squads.

Medic also benefits from faster health regeneration.

The class is still designed to fight at mid range, so it is not a passive support role. The main advantage is being able to recover a bad situation faster than other classes.

Do You Need One of Each Class?

No. Horde Siege does not force a traditional class composition.

A squad can combine classes however it wants, including running several copies of the same class. The better setup will depend on the mission type, difficulty and the upgrades each player has unlocked.

How Class Progression Works

Each launch class has 30 progression levels.

Leveling a class unlocks loadout weapons, equipment, Armor Mods, Tactical Gear Mods and Weapon Mods. Important milestones also provide base health and damage increases.

Because class level is tied to Horde Siege difficulty recommendations, leveling several classes gives you more flexibility, but maxing one class first can make higher-difficulty progression easier.
