Gears of War: E-Day PC Requirements: Minimum and Recommended Specs

The current Steam minimum and recommended PC requirements for Gears of War: E-Day, including CPU, GPU, RAM, ray tracing and SSD requirements.

Gears of War: E-Day requires an SSD and a graphics card with hardware ray-tracing support on PC.

Steam currently lists 130 GB of available storage for both the minimum and recommended configurations, so leave more than the bare minimum free before preload and launch updates.

Minimum PC Requirements

The current Steam minimum requirements list:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit 22H 19045.7291
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X / Intel i7-6850K / Intel i5-10400
  • RAM: 12 GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 / RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 6600 / Radeon RX 9060
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 130 GB available space
  • Drive: SSD required
  • GPU requirement: hardware ray tracing support required

These requirements are the floor for running the game, not a guarantee that every visual setting should be pushed high.

Recommended PC Requirements

The recommended Steam requirements list:

  • OS: Windows 11 64-bit 25H2 or newer
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 / Intel i5-11600K
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 / RTX 3060 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT / Radeon RX 9060 XT
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 130 GB available space
  • Drive: SSD required

Do You Need an SSD?

Yes. An SSD is specifically required.

The E-Day beta documentation also warned that mechanical hard drives could cause severe loading problems, missing assets, stutter and crashes.

Do GTX Graphics Cards Work?

The listed PC requirements call for a GPU with dedicated hardware ray-tracing support.

Older GTX cards are not included in the supported minimum list, so an RTX-class NVIDIA card or a supported AMD equivalent is the safer baseline.

Should You Update Your GPU Driver?

Yes. Update your NVIDIA, AMD or Intel graphics driver before the preload or launch period.

A clean driver update is especially useful for a new Unreal Engine 5 release because launch-day drivers can include game-specific fixes and profiles.
