Gears of War: E-Day Progression Guide: Player Level, Re-Up, Medals and Coins

How multiplayer progression works in Gears of War: E-Day, including level 100, four Re-Ups, medals, Coins and weekly or seasonal challenges.

Gears of War: E-Day separates general multiplayer progression from Horde Siege class progression.

Your overall Player Level advances through multiplayer XP, while each Horde Siege class has its own separate 30-level track.

Player Level and Re-Up

Player Level caps at 100.

After reaching level 100, you can Re-Up and reset the Player Level to 1 in exchange for an exclusive reward. E-Day supports four Re-Ups, which represents 500 total Player Levels across the full progression path.

Finishing level 100 on the final Re-Up awards a Gears 2-inspired wings display beside your player name.

How to Earn Player XP

Player XP comes from playing multiplayer matches and completing weekly challenges in Horde Siege and Versus.

Weekly challenges are intended as an extra progression boost rather than a required battle-pass track.

Medals

E-Day brings back the Gears 3-style medal system.

At launch there are more than 80 medal series. Medals progress through:

  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Onyx
  • Diamond

The new Diamond tier finishes a medal series and awards an exclusive Player Title.

Medals can also award Coins, banners and emblems. You can display up to three earned medals on your emblem.

What Coins Are Used For

Coins are a free-to-earn currency spent in the Barracks on specific customization items.

Coins can be earned by:

  • completing multiplayer matches
  • reaching Player Level milestones
  • earning medals

Match-earned Coins have a weekly cap. Coins awarded through medals or Player Level are not subject to that same weekly cap.

Weekly, Seasonal and Event Challenges

E-Day uses several challenge types.

Weekly Challenges: 12 each week, split between Horde Siege and Versus, awarding Player XP.

Seasonal Challenges: 20 each season, with customization rewards such as poses, weapon skin sets, banners, emblems, icons and characters.

Event Challenges: five challenges during limited-time events, usually tied to themed rewards.

Foundations Challenges: permanent tutorial-style tasks designed to teach multiplayer systems and unlock base characters.

Is There a Battle Pass?

No traditional battle pass is planned for E-Day's launch progression.

The Coalition has said that almost all customization items can be earned through gameplay, either directly through challenges, achievements and medals, or indirectly by earning Coins and buying the item you want from the Barracks.
