Red Dead Redemption 2 enRAGE Mod: Nemesis System, Gang Wars & Download
The RDR2 enRAGE mod brings NPC memory, personal revenge, dynamic gang wars, persistent injuries and a living world. See its features and how to download it.
Red Dead Redemption 2's New enRAGE Mod Adds a Nemesis System, Gang Wars, and a Living World
A newly released Red Dead Redemption 2 mod aims to make the Wild West more unpredictable, introducing NPCs who remember your actions, enemies who seek revenge, and gangs that fight for territory even when Arthur Morgan isn't around.
Red Dead Redemption 2 already has one of the most detailed open worlds in gaming. Its towns are filled with characters going about their daily routines, while random encounters make travelling across the map feel surprisingly natural.
However, a new PC mod called enRAGE – Living World and Nemesis System wants to take those interactions even further.
Created by modder nicklovin99, enRAGE introduces a system inspired by Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, where characters remember their encounters with the player and can develop lasting rivalries.
But the mod goes beyond personal enemies. It also introduces dynamic gang warfare, changing faction leadership, NPC relationships, persistent injuries, town reputations, and newspapers reporting events happening throughout the world.
The mod was first released on October 17, 2026, and received an update on October 19. It is currently available in early access for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC.

1. Where to Download the enRAGE Mod for Red Dead Redemption 2
The enRAGE mod is available through Nexus Mods.

The mod is designed exclusively for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 and works in Story Mode.
Before installing, players will need two additional tools:
- ScriptHookRDR2 by Alexander Blade
- ScriptHookRDR2DotNet V2, version 2.2.0 or newer
Once these requirements are installed, players can use the mod's installer or manually copy its files into their RDR2 installation directory.
For manual installation, place the ScriptHook files in the folder containing RDR2.exe, then copy the mod's scripts folder into that same directory. The installation should contain scripts\NemesisMod.dll and scripts\Newtonsoft.Json.dll.
The developer recommends installing the ScriptHook requirements first. Players should also check the latest instructions on Nexus Mods before installing, since the project is still receiving updates.
Important: enRAGE is intended for Story Mode only and should not be used in Red Dead Online.
2. NPCs Now Remember Your Actions and Develop Personalities
One of the biggest changes introduced by enRAGE is how NPCs behave and remember interactions.
In the original Red Dead Redemption 2, strangers can respond to Arthur's actions, but most encounters do not develop into long-term personal relationships.
enRAGE attempts to change that.
According to the developer, greeting a stranger can give that character a persistent identity, including a name, temperament, traits, occupation, background, and relationships.
NPCs can have seven different temperaments:
- Hothead
- Proud
- Cold
- Coward
- Greedy
- Loyal
- Drifter
These temperaments influence how characters react during conversations, confrontations, and dangerous situations.
For example, a cowardly NPC might surrender when threatened, while someone with an aggressive personality could be more willing to fight.
Characters can also have backstories and family connections, making them more than temporary strangers encountered on the road.
Most importantly, people Arthur has previously encountered may appear again in the same towns, recognising him and remembering how they were treated.

The Criminal Profile screenshot shows the kind of persistent identity and personal information the mod tracks for NPCs.
3. A Nemesis System Inspired by Shadow of Mordor
The central feature of enRAGE is its Nemesis system.
Players familiar with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War will recognise the concept: enemies remember previous encounters and can become recurring rivals.
In enRAGE, this can begin with something as simple as insulting a stranger.
Robbing someone, punching them, hogtying them, stealing from them, or harming people they care about can increase their hostility towards Arthur.
Over time, an NPC's resentment may develop into a personal vendetta.
The mod features three escalating levels of hostility:
- Resentful: The character develops a grudge and may confront Arthur.
- Vengeful: The enemy becomes more dangerous, potentially using weapons or actively looking for retaliation.
- Murderous: The character becomes determined to kill Arthur.
These enemies can eventually return, sometimes bringing other men to help them.
The developer also says that disguising Arthur's identity can influence the system. If a victim never sees his face, they may not be able to identify him and establish a personal grudge.
This creates the possibility of an ordinary encounter turning into an ongoing rivalry that follows Arthur across the map.
Rather than every confrontation being forgotten, the mod aims to make those choices matter.
4. Enemies Can Survive Gunfights and Return With Scars
Another interesting addition is the ability for certain enemies to survive encounters that would ordinarily end their involvement in the game.
According to the developer, some nemeses can return after being seriously injured.
Their injuries may have lasting consequences, including visible scars, limps, or damaged limbs.
A character previously shot by Arthur might later appear in town carrying the effects of that encounter.
Some wounded characters may even be found recovering in a doctor's office or spending time at a saloon.
Family connections can also influence future encounters.
Killing someone might cause their relatives or friends to become hostile towards Arthur, potentially creating further rivalries.
These systems are intended to make encounters feel connected, rather than isolated events that disappear once the player leaves the area.

The Bar Shootout screenshot captures the kind of violent encounters that can feed into the mod's longer-term revenge and injury systems.
5. Eight Factions Fight Their Own Gang Wars
enRAGE is not limited to individual NPC interactions.
The mod also introduces an independent faction simulation designed to create conflicts throughout the world.
Eight organisations are represented:
- O'Driscoll Boys
- Lemoyne Raiders
- U.S. Army
- Wapiti
- Bronte Family
- Murfree Brood
- Skinner Brothers
- The Klan
Each organisation has a hierarchy consisting of leaders, officers, and ordinary members.
These factions maintain their own manpower, money, supplies, and territorial interests.
Leaders also have personal ambitions.
Some may seek control over additional territory, while others prioritise building wealth, attacking rival organisations, or maintaining their existing influence.
As relationships between factions change, conflicts can develop naturally.
According to the developer, gangs can attack enemy camps, rob stagecoaches, fight over territory, or establish peace agreements.
These events can happen independently of the player, meaning Arthur could encounter the consequences of a conflict without ever participating in it.

The Hierarchy screenshot gives a closer look at how gang structure and leadership are presented in enRAGE.
6. Gang Leaders Can Die, and New Leaders Take Their Place
The faction simulation also features changing leadership.
When an officer dies, another member of the organisation may eventually be promoted to replace them.
According to the developer, factions periodically reorganise their ranks, filling vacant positions and rewarding surviving members.
Killing or capturing a leader can create even bigger changes.
A replacement may emerge within several in-game days, potentially introducing a different set of ambitions.
The new leader might continue an ongoing war, pursue a different enemy, or attempt to negotiate peace.
The strength of each organisation also affects its decisions.
A faction that loses too many fighters or runs short of supplies may struggle to maintain its military strength.
This means repeatedly attacking a gang is intended to have consequences beyond temporarily clearing an enemy camp.
7. Arthur Can Interrogate Gang Members and Discover Hidden Information
enRAGE also adds new options for dealing with captured enemies.
Players can interrogate gang members to uncover information about their organisation.
According to the mod description, Arthur can question enemies who have surrendered, been restrained, or are being held at gunpoint.
The information they provide may include:
- The location of their leader
- Important officers and their routines
- Gang plans and upcoming activities
- Hidden money and supplies
- Camps and strongholds
- Personal information about other members
However, interrogation results are not guaranteed.
NPC personalities and fear levels influence whether someone cooperates.
A frightened character might reveal information quickly, while a loyal gang member may refuse to talk.
Enemies can also lie, potentially directing Arthur into an ambush.
The information gathered can be used to plan attacks against gang resources or important members.
For example, learning when an officer visits a particular saloon could provide an opportunity to confront them away from their camp.

The Interrogation screenshot shows one of the mod's more interesting additions, giving Arthur new ways to gather information instead of just shooting his way through every problem.
8. Players Can Sabotage Gang Supplies and Weaken Entire Factions
Alongside direct combat and interrogation, the mod introduces ways to interfere with a faction's resources.
Gangs have supplies and money that influence their ability to recruit members and sustain conflicts.
Players can reportedly attack camps, steal money, destroy supplies, and disrupt transport operations.
The developer describes supply camps containing items such as crates, wagons, and horses.
Destroying these resources can weaken an organisation.
A gang suffering shortages may have fewer resources available for its members and become less capable of conducting large-scale attacks.
Combined with the leadership system, this offers players ways to weaken an organisation without simply fighting every member they encounter.
9. The World Continues Changing Without Arthur Morgan
One of the mod's most ambitious features is its living-world simulation.
The developer says NPCs can participate in their own activities and events independently of Arthur.
Characters may get married, fall sick, commit crimes, fight duels, develop rivalries, or leave their organisations.
Every new simulated world also begins with a generated history, including previous conflicts and events connected to its characters.
As time passes, more events are recorded in an evolving chronicle.
This system allows players to follow developments happening elsewhere in the world.
The mod also introduces newspapers that report important events.
For five cents, players can purchase local newspapers containing stories about gang conflicts, crimes, deaths, and other regional developments.
These publications include names such as the Saint Denis Times and Blackwater Ledger.
Rather than relying only on encounters happening directly in front of the player, enRAGE attempts to make the wider world feel active.
10. Arthur's Reputation Changes Between Towns
The mod also introduces a reputation system that tracks how different towns perceive Arthur.
Instead of relying exclusively on the game's existing Honour system, enRAGE gives individual communities their own opinions of the player.
Actions such as helping strangers, showing mercy, donating money, or assisting people can improve Arthur's standing.
Meanwhile, committing crimes and threatening residents can negatively affect his reputation.
The developer says reputation information can be viewed through the map.
The mod also allows additional social interactions, including buying someone a drink, offering money, or greeting familiar characters.
Players can even communicate through telegrams.
These messages may be used to contact people Arthur has met, threaten enemies, arrange payments, or attempt to resolve existing rivalries.
Friendly characters may also respond with messages of their own.
These additions create more opportunities for interaction outside combat.
11. A New X-Ray System Tracks Bullet Injuries
Beyond the living-world simulation, enRAGE includes an X-ray combat log.
This feature records information about gunshot injuries.
According to the developer, the log can display bullet trajectories, entry and exit wounds, damaged bones, and organs struck by bullets.
Players can examine this information using an interactive skeleton interface.
Different ammunition types also influence the recorded results.
Split-point rounds can behave differently from high-velocity or express ammunition, adding another level of detail to the system.
Animals have their own records, including an evaluation of the player's shots.
Although separate from the Nemesis system, the X-ray log adds an interesting way to review encounters and understand the effects of gunfire.
12. Each Save File Has Its Own Living World
The developer has also designed enRAGE to maintain separate simulated worlds for different save files.
Each save can have its own collection of enemies, faction relationships, ongoing wars, and historical events.
Switching between saves is intended to switch between their corresponding simulated worlds.
The mod stores this information separately from the main installation folder, under the player's Red Dead Redemption 2 documents directory.
That means reinstalling or verifying the game should not automatically erase the simulated world data.
The mod is also designed to avoid interfering with the main story. According to the creator, its systems stay out of the way during story missions.
13. Is the enRAGE Mod Finished?
Not yet.
enRAGE is currently an early-access project, and the developer has been clear that the mod is still being developed.
Its first public release arrived on October 17, 2026, with version 0.9.5 appearing by October 19.
The mod's features are ambitious, but that does not mean every system will work perfectly in its current state.
Players may encounter bugs, unexpected NPC behaviour, crashes, or compatibility issues with other gameplay modifications.
Some early users have reported problems involving ScriptHook compatibility and other combat overhaul mods.
The creator has also disclosed that Claude Code was used to assist with writing the mod's scripts and systems.
Players interested in trying enRAGE should review the latest changelog, installation instructions, and community reports before using it.
14. Could enRAGE Make Red Dead Redemption 2 Feel Like a Completely Different Game?
Red Dead Redemption 2 already delivers an impressive level of environmental detail and NPC interaction.
However, enRAGE is attempting something different.
Instead of focusing on graphics, weapons, or additional missions, the mod aims to make existing characters and factions behave as if they have ongoing lives.
An NPC who remembers being robbed, survives a gunfight, and later returns for revenge could make a relatively minor encounter much more memorable.
Similarly, discovering that a gang has lost its leader or territory while Arthur was somewhere else could make the world feel less dependent on the player.
The combination of personal rivalries, gang politics, town reputations, and a persistent world history has considerable potential.
Whether these systems can consistently deliver the intended experience remains to be seen.
For now, enRAGE is one of the more ambitious recent attempts to expand Red Dead Redemption 2's open-world simulation.
And for PC players looking for a different experience in Rockstar's Wild West, it is certainly an interesting mod to follow.
