Gears E-Day Player Claims Ban Over LGBT Comment
A Gears of War: E-Day player claims they were temporarily banned from online multiplayer after posting an LGBT-related comment in chat.
A Gears of War: E-Day player claims they were temporarily banned from online multiplayer after typing “wt is this lgbt crap” in the game’s chat.
The incident was shared by gaming account Pirat Nation on X, alongside a screenshot showing an “ONLINE PLAY BAN” notice. The reason displayed on the ban screen is “Identity Based Discrimination,” with the suspension appearing to remain active until October 4.

The post has drawn attention as Gears of War: E-Day is already facing discussion around LGBT-related content in its multiplayer. Screenshots shared online recently showed a Pride section containing multiple Pride-themed player emblems, which can be equipped and displayed alongside a player’s profile during multiplayer matches.
Pride-themed customization itself is not new to the series. Gears 5 also included a collection of LGBT Pride flags when it launched in 2019, giving players several Pride-themed multiplayer customization options.
Xbox’s Community Standards prohibit harassment and discriminatory behaviour targeting characteristics such as sexual orientation. Enforcement can result in temporary restrictions affecting multiplayer, messaging and other online features depending on the violation.
In this case, the ban screen specifically lists “Identity Based Discrimination” as the reason. According to the claim shared online, the suspension followed the player posting the LGBT-related comment in multiplayer chat.
The incident has since added another layer to the ongoing discussion surrounding moderation and Pride-related content in Gears of War: E-Day, particularly around where Xbox draws the line between criticism of in-game content and language considered discriminatory under its community rules.
